So Moses took his wife and sons, put them on a donkey, and headed back to Egypt. And he took the staff of God in his hand.

The LORD instructed Moses, "When you go back to Egypt, see that you perform before Pharaoh all the wonders that I have put within your power. But I will harden his heart so that he will not let the people go.

and I told you to let My son go so that he may worship Me. But you have refused to let him go, so I will kill your firstborn son!'"

So the LORD let him alone. (When she said, "bridegroom of blood," she was referring to the circumcision.)

Meanwhile, the LORD had said to Aaron, "Go and meet Moses in the wilderness." So he went and met Moses at the mountain of God and kissed him.

After that, Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and said, "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: 'Let My people go, so that they may hold a feast to Me in the wilderness.'"

Make the work harder on the men so they will be occupied and pay no attention to these lies."

So the taskmasters and foremen of the people went out and said to them, "This is what Pharaoh says: 'I am no longer giving you straw.

So the people scattered all over the land of Egypt to gather stubble for straw.

So the Israelite foremen went and appealed to Pharaoh: "Why are you treating your servants this way?

So Moses returned to the LORD and asked, "Lord, why have You brought trouble upon this people? Is this why You sent me?

So the LORD said to Moses,

You are to speak all that I command you, and your brother Aaron must declare it to Pharaoh so that he will let the Israelites go out of his land.

So Moses and Aaron did just as the LORD had commanded them.

So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did just as the LORD had commanded. Aaron threw his staff down before Pharaoh and his officials, and it became a serpent.

Then say to him, 'The LORD, the God of the Hebrews, has sent me to tell you: Let My people go, so that they may worship Me in the wilderness. But you have not listened until now.

The fish in the Nile died, and the river smelled so bad that the Egyptians could not drink its water. There was blood throughout the land of Egypt.

But the magicians of Egypt did the same things by their magic arts. So Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he would not listen to Moses and Aaron, just as the LORD had said.

So all the Egyptians dug around the Nile for water to drink, because they could not drink the water from the river.

Then the LORD said to Moses, "Go to Pharaoh and tell him that this is what the LORD says: 'Let My people go, so that they may worship Me.
