So, on the west side of the Jordan they set aside Kedesh in Galilee, in the hill country of Naphtali; Shechem, in the hill country of Ephraim; and Hebron, in the hill country of Judah.

So in accordance with the Lord 's command the people of Israel gave the Levites certain cities and pasture lands out of their own territories.

So Joshua made a covenant for the people that day, and there at Shechem he gave them laws and rules to follow.

He said to all the people, "This stone will be our witness. It has heard all the words that the Lord has spoken to us. So it will be a witness against you, to keep you from rebelling against your God."

As long as Joshua lived, the people of Israel served the Lord , and after his death they continued to do so as long as those leaders were alive who had seen for themselves everything that the Lord had done for Israel.

The people of Judah said to the people of Simeon, "Go with us into the territory assigned to us, and we will fight the Canaanites together. Then we will go with you into the territory assigned to you." So the tribes of Simeon

Othniel, the son of Caleb's younger brother Kenaz, captured the city, so Caleb gave him his daughter Achsah in marriage.

She answered, "I want some water holes. The land you have given me is in the dry country." So Caleb gave her the upper and lower springs.
