So one of the men at once ran off, took a sponge, and soaked it in some sour wine. Then he put it on a stick and offered Jesushim">[fn] a drink.Psalm 69:21; Mark 15:36; Luke 23:36; John 19:29;">[xr]

So Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a clean linen cloth.

So they went and secured the tomb by putting a seal on the stone in the presence of the guards.Daniel 6:17;">[xr]

Because they were so afraid of him, the guards shook and became like dead men.

So they quickly left the tomb with fearawe">[fn] and great joy and ran to tell his disciples.

So they met with the elders and agreed on a plan to give the soldiers a largea sufficient">[fn] amount of money.

So the soldiersthey">[fn] took the money and did as they were instructed. This story has been spread among the Jews to this day.
