He has made everything beautiful in its time: also he has set eternity in their heart, yet so that man cannot find out the work that God has done from the beginning even to the end.

I know that there is nothing better for them, than to rejoice, and to do good so long as they live.

For that which befalls the sons of man befalls beasts; even one thing befalls them: as the one dies, so dies the other; yes, they all have one breath; and man has no preeminence above the beasts: for all is vanity.

And this also is a grievous evil, that in all points as he came, so he shall go: and what profit does he have that he labors for the wind?

a man to whom God gives riches, wealth, and honor, so that he lacks nothing for his soul of all that he desires, yet God does not give him power to eat thereof, but an alien eats it; this is vanity, and it is an evil disease.

If a man begets a hundred children, and live many years, so that the days of his years are many, but his soul is not filled with good, and moreover he has no burial; I say, that an untimely birth is better than he:

For as the crackling of thorns under a pot, so is the laughter of the fool: this also is vanity.

So I saw the wicked buried, and they came [to the grave]; and those that had done right went away from the holy place, and were forgotten in the city: this also is vanity.

All things come alike to all: there is one event to the righteous and to the wicked; to the good and to the clean and to the unclean; to him that sacrifices and to him that does not sacrifice; as is the good, so is the sinner; [and] he that swears, as he that fears an oath.

For man also doesn't know his time: as the fish that are taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the snare, even so are the sons of man snared in an evil time, when it falls suddenly on them.

Dead flies cause the oil of the perfumer to send forth an evil odor; [so] does a little folly outweigh wisdom and honor.

As you don't know what the way of the wind is, [nor] how the bones [grow] in the womb of her that is pregnant; even so you don't know the work of God who does all.

As a lily among thorns, So is my love among the daughters.

As the apple-tree among the trees of the forest, So is my beloved among the sons. I sat down under his shadow with great delight, And his fruit was sweet to my taste.

What is your beloved more than [another] beloved, O you fairest among women? What is your beloved more than [another] beloved, That you so adjure us?

Therefore as the tongue of fire devours the stubble, and as the dry grass sinks down in the flame, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust; because they have rejected the law of Yahweh of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.

And if there is yet a tenth in it, it also shall in turn be eaten up: as a terebinth, and as an oak, whose stock remains, when they are felled; so the holy seed is the stock thereof.

For the head of Syria is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin; and within threescore and five years shall Ephraim be broken in pieces, so that it shall not be a people:

For Yahweh spoke thus to me with a strong hand, and he turned me away [so as] not to walk in the way of this people, saying,

Nevertheless he does not mean so, neither does his heart think so; but it is in his heart to destroy, and to cut off not a few nations.
