Thus says Yahweh to this people, Even so they have loved to wander; they haven't refrained their feet: therefore Yahweh does not accept them; now he will remember their iniquity, and visit their sins.

and you have done evil more than your fathers; for, look, you walk every one after the stubbornness of his evil heart, so that you don't listen to me:

As the partridge that sits on [eggs] which she has not laid, so is he that gets riches, and not by right; in the midst of his days they shall leave him, and at his end he shall be a fool.

O house of Israel, can't I do with you as this potter? says Yahweh. Look, as the clay in the potter's hand, so are you in my hand, O house of Israel.

and shall say to them, Thus says Yahweh of hosts: Even so I will break this people and this city, as one breaks a potter's vessel, that can't be made whole again; and they shall bury in Topheth, until there is no place to bury.

because he didn't slay me from the womb; and so my mother would have been my grave, and her womb always pregnant.

O house of David, thus says Yahweh, Execute justice in the morning, and deliver him that is robbed out of the hand of the oppressor, or else my wrath will go forth like fire, and burn so that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.

In the prophets of Jerusalem also I have seen a horrible thing: they commit adultery, and walk in lies; and they strengthen the hands of evil-doers, so that none returns from his wickedness: they are all of them to me as Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah.

Can any hide himself in secret places so that I shall not see him? says Yahweh. Don't I fill heaven and earth? says Yahweh.

One basket had very good figs, like the figs that are first-ripe; and the other basket had very bad figs, which could not be eaten, they were so bad.

Then Yahweh said to me, What do you see, Jeremiah? And I said, Figs; the good figs, very good; and the bad, very bad, that can't be eaten, they are so bad.

This is what Yahweh, the God of Israel, says: Like these good figs, so I will regard the captives of Judah, whom I have sent out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans, for good.

And as the bad figs, which can't be eaten, they are so bad, surely thus says Yahweh, So I will give up Zedekiah the king of Judah, and his princes, and the residue of Jerusalem, that remain in this land, and those that dwell in the land of Egypt,

even the prophet Jeremiah said, Amen: May Yahweh do so; May Yahweh perform your words which you have prophesied, to bring again the vessels of Yahweh's house, and all them of the captivity, from Babylon to this place.

And Hananiah spoke in the presence of all the people, saying, Thus says Yahweh: Even so I will break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon within two full years from off the neck of all the nations. And the prophet Jeremiah went his way.

So Hananiah the prophet died the same year in the seventh month.

this is what Yahweh of Hosts says; Look, I will send on them the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, and will make them like vile figs, that can't be eaten, they are so bad.

Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.

And it shall come to pass that, like I have watched over them to pluck up and to break down and to overthrow and to destroy and to afflict, so I will watch over them to build and to plant, says Yahweh.

Thus says Yahweh, who gives the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, who stirs up the sea, so that the waves thereof roar; Yahweh of hosts is his name:
