So one of the priests whom they had carried away from Samaria came and lived in Bethel and taught them how they should fear the Lord .

So they feared the Lord but also served their own gods, after the manner of the nations from among whom they had been carried away.

So these nations feared the Lord and also served their carved images. Their children did likewise, and their children's children—as their fathers did, so they do to this day.

He trusted in the Lord , the God of Israel, so that there was none like him among all the kings of Judah after him, nor among those who were before him.

Behold, I will put a spirit in him, so that he shall hear a rumor and return to his own land, and I will make him fall by the sword in his own land.'"

Now the king heard concerning Tirhakah king of Cush, "Behold, he has set out to fight against you." So he sent messengers again to Hezekiah, saying,

And he said, "Let him be; let no man move his bones." So they let his bones alone, with the bones of the prophet who came out of Samaria.

So Jehoiakim slept with his fathers, and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his place.

So the city was besieged till the eleventh year of King Zedekiah.

And the king of Babylon struck them down and put them to death at Riblah in the land of Hamath. So Judah was taken into exile out of its land.

So the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Pul king of Assyria, the spirit of Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria, and he took them into exile, namely, the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, and brought them to Halah, Habor, Hara, and the river Gozan, to this day.
