Jeroboam said to his wife, "Go, disguise yourself, so that it will not be known that you are the wife of Jeroboam, and go to Shiloh; for the prophet Ahijah is there, who said of me that I should be king over this people.

Jeroboam's wife did so; she set out and went to Shiloh, and came to the house of Ahijah. Now Ahijah could not see, for his eyes were dim because of his age.

so King Rehoboam made shields of bronze instead, and committed them to the hands of the officers of the guard, who kept the door of the king's house.

"Let there be an alliance between me and you, like that between my father and your father: I am sending you a present of silver and gold; go, break your alliance with King Baasha of Israel, so that he may withdraw from me."

So Baasha killed Nadab in the third year of King Asa of Judah, and succeeded him.

So Omri went up from Gibbethon, and all Israel with him, and they besieged Tirzah.

But the people who followed Omri overcame the people who followed Tibni son of Ginath; so Tibni died, and Omri became king.

So he went and did according to the word of the Lord ; he went and lived by the Wadi Cherith, which is east of the Jordan.

So he set out and went to Zarephath. When he came to the gate of the town, a widow was there gathering sticks; he called to her and said, "Bring me a little water in a vessel, so that I may drink."

But she said, "As the Lord your God lives, I have nothing baked, only a handful of meal in a jar, and a little oil in a jug; I am now gathering a couple of sticks, so that I may go home and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it, and die."

She went and did as Elijah said, so that she as well as he and her household ate for many days.

After this the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, became ill; his illness was so severe that there was no breath left in him.

So the woman said to Elijah, "Now I know that you are a man of God, and that the word of the Lord in your mouth is truth."

So Elijah went to present himself to Ahab. The famine was severe in Samaria.

So they divided the land between them to pass through it; Ahab went in one direction by himself, and Obadiah went in another direction by himself.

As soon as I have gone from you, the spirit of the Lord will carry you I know not where; so, when I come and tell Ahab and he cannot find you, he will kill me, although I your servant have revered the Lord from my youth.

So Obadiah went to meet Ahab, and told him; and Ahab went to meet Elijah.

So Ahab sent to all the Israelites, and assembled the prophets at Mount Carmel.

So they took the bull that was given them, prepared it, and called on the name of Baal from morning until noon, crying, "O Baal, answer us!" But there was no voice, and no answer. They limped about the altar that they had made.

so that the water ran all around the altar, and filled the trench also with water.
