and over them three presidents, of whom Daniel was one, to whom these satraps should give account, so that the king might suffer no loss.

Now, O king, establish the interdict and sign the document, so that it cannot be changed, according to the law of the Medes and the Persians, which cannot be revoked."

Then the king was exceedingly glad, and commanded that Daniel be taken up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no kind of hurt was found upon him, because he had trusted in his God.

So this Daniel prospered during the reign of Darius and the reign of Cyrus the Persian.

I approached one of those who stood there and asked him the truth concerning all this. So he told me, and made known to me the interpretation of the things.

So he came near where I stood; and when he came, I was frightened and fell upon my face. But he said to me, "Understand, O son of man, that the vision is for the time of the end."

So I was left alone and saw this great vision, and no strength was left in me; my radiant appearance was fearfully changed, and I retained no strength.

E'phraim has given bitter provocation; so his LORD will leave his bloodguilt upon him, and will turn back upon him his reproaches.

So I will be to them like a lion, like a leopard I will lurk beside the way.

"So you shall know that I am the LORD your God, who dwell in Zion, my holy mountain. And Jerusalem shall be holy and strangers shall never again pass through it.

So I will send a fire upon the house of Haz'ael, and it shall devour the strongholds of Ben-ha'dad.
