So Moses got up and went to Dathan and Abiram, and the elders of Israel followed him.

So they moved away from the dwellings of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram. Meanwhile, Dathan and Abiram had come out and stood at the entrance of their tents with their wives and children and infants.

But if the LORD brings about something unprecedented, and the earth opens its mouth and swallows them and all that belongs to them so that they go down alive into Sheol, then you will know that these men have treated the LORD with contempt."

As for the censers of those who sinned at the cost of their own lives, hammer them into sheets to overlay the altar, for these were presented before the LORD, and so have become holy. They will serve as a sign to the Israelites."

So Eleazar the priest took the bronze censers brought by those who had been burned up, and he had them hammered out to overlay the altar,

"Get away from this congregation so that I may consume them in an instant." And they fell facedown.

So Aaron took the censer as Moses had ordered and ran into the midst of the assembly. And seeing that the plague had begun among the people, he offered the incense and made atonement for the people.

So Moses spoke to the Israelites, and each of their leaders gave him a staff-one for each of the leaders of their tribes, twelve staffs in all. And Aaron's staff was among them.

The LORD said to Moses, "Put Aaron's staff back in front of the Testimony, to be kept as a sign for the rebellious, so that you may put an end to their grumbling against Me, lest they die."

So Moses did as the LORD had commanded him.

So the LORD said to Aaron, "You, your sons, and your father's house must bear the iniquity against the sanctuary. And you and your sons alone must bear the iniquity against the priesthood.

So you are to present an offering to the LORD from every tenth you receive from the Israelites, and from it give the LORD's offering to Aaron the priest.

Now there was no water for the congregation, so they gathered against Moses and Aaron.

So Moses took the staff from the LORD's presence, just as He had commanded.

Then Moses raised his hand and struck the rock twice with his staff, so that a great amount of water gushed out, and the congregation and their livestock were able to drink.

So Edom refused to allow Israel to pass through their territory, and Israel turned away from them.

So Moses did as the LORD had commanded, and they climbed Mount Hor in the sight of the whole congregation.

So Israel made a vow to the LORD: "If You will deliver this people into our hands, we will devote their cities to destruction."

And the LORD heard Israel's plea and delivered up the Canaanites. Israel devoted them and their cities to destruction; so they named the place Hormah.

So the LORD sent poisonous snakes among the people, and many of the Israelites were bitten and died.
