For if the inheritance comes by the law, it no longer comes by the promise. But it was by a promise that God so graciously gave it to Abraham.Romans 4:14; 8:17;">[xr]

So is the law in conflict with the promises of God? Of course not! For if a law had been given that could give us life, then certainly righteousness would come through the law.Galatians 2:21;">[xr]

But the Scripture has put everything under the power of sin, so that what was promised by the faithfulness of Christby faith in Christ">[fn] might be given to those who believe.Romans 3:9,19, 23; 11:32; Galatians 3:8;">[xr]

And so the law was our guardian until Christ came, so that we might be justified by faith.Matthew 5:17; Acts 13:39; Romans 10:4; Galatians 2:16; Colossians 2:17; Hebrews 9:9-10;">[xr]

in order to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as his children.Matthew 20:28; John 1:12; Galatians 3:13,26; Ephesians 1:5,7; Titus 2:14; Hebrews 9:12; 1 Peter 1:18-19;">[xr]

So you are no longer a slave but a child, and if you are a child, then you are also an heir through God.Romans 8:16-17; Galatians 3:29;">[xr]

So have I now become your enemy for telling you the truth?Galatians 2:5,14;">[xr]

These peopleThey">[fn] are devoted to you, but not in a good way. They want you to avoid me so that you will be devoted to them.Romans 10:2; 1 Corinthians 11:2;">[xr]

Indeed, I wish I were with you right now so that I could change the tone of my voice, because I am completely baffled by you!

So you,we">[fn] brothers, are children of the promise, like Isaac.Acts 3:25; Romans 9:8; Galatians 3:29;">[xr]

But just as then the son who was conceived according to the flesh persecuted the son who was conceived according to the Spirit, so it is now.Genesis 21:9; Galatians 5:11; 6:12;">[xr]

So then, brothers, we are not children of the slave woman but of the free woman.John 8:36; Galatians 5:1,13;">[xr]

Christ has set us free so that we may enjoy the benefits of freedom.has set us free for freedom">[fn] So keep on standing firm in it, and stop attaching yourselves to the yoke of slavery again.John 8:32; Acts 15:10; Romans 6:18; Galatians 2:4; 4:9; 1 Peter 2:16;">[xr]

So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will never fulfill the desires of the flesh.Romans 6:12; 13:14; Galatians 5:25; 1 Peter 2:11;">[xr]

For what the flesh wants is opposed to the Spirit, and what the Spirit wants is opposed to the flesh. They are opposed to each other, and so you do not do what you want to do.Romans 7:15,19, 23; 8:6-7;">[xr]

Brothers, if a person is caught doing something wrong, those of you who are spiritual should restore that person in a spirit of gentleness. Watch out for yourself so that you are not tempted as well.Romans 14:1; 15:1; 1 Corinthians 2:15; 3:1; 4:21; 7:5; 10:12; 2 Thessalonians 3:15; 2 Timothy 2:25; Hebrews 12:13; James 5:19;">[xr]

So then, whenever we have the opportunity, let us practice doing good to everyone, especially to the family of faith.John 9:4; 12:35; Ephesians 2:19; 1 Thessalonians 5:15; 1 Timothy 6:18; Titus 3:8; Hebrews 3:6;">[xr]

Why, not even those who are circumcised obey the law! They simply want you to be circumcised so that they can boast about your flesh.

so that we would praiseto the praise of">[fn] his glorious grace that he gave us in the Beloved One.Matthew 3:17; 17:5; John 3:35; 10:17; Romans 3:24; 5:15;">[xr]

so that we who had already fixed our hope on Christ might live for his praise and glory.Ephesians 1:6,14; 2 Thessalonians 2:13; James 1:18;">[xr]
