So for a second time they summoned the man who had been blind and told him, "Give glory to God! We know that this man is a sinner."Joshua 7:19; 1 Samuel 6:5; John 6:16;">[xr]

Jesus heard that they had thrown him out. So when he found him, he said, "Do you believe in the Son of Man?"Son of God">[fn]Matthew 14:33; 16:16; Mark 1:1; John 10:36; 1 John 5:13;">[xr]

He answered, "And who is he, sir?Lord">[fn] Tell me,Tell me">[fn] so that I may believe in him."

Then Jesus said, "I have come into this world for judgment, so that those who are blind may see, and those who see may become blind."Matthew 13:13; John 3:17; 12:47;">[xr]

So again Jesus said, "Truly, truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep.

The hired hand, who is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming, deserts the sheep, and runs away. So the wolf snatches them and scatters them.Zechariah 11:16-17;">[xr]

I have other sheep that do not belong to this fold. I must lead these also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock and one shepherd.Isaiah 56:8; Ezekiel 37:22; Ephesians 2:14; 1 Peter 2:25;">[xr]

So the Jews surrounded him and said to him, "How long are you going to keep us in suspense? If you are the Christ,[fn] tell us so plainly."

But if I am doing them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, so that you may know and understandbelieve">[fn] that the Father is in me and I am in the Father."John 5:36; 14:10-11; 17:21;">[xr]

So the sisters sent word to Jesus,sent to him">[fn] saying, "Lord, the one whom you love is ill."

But when Jesus heard it, he said, "This illness is not meant to end in death. It is for God's glory, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it."John 9:3,40;">[xr]

So the disciples said to him, "Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will get well."

For your sake I am glad that I was not there, so that you may believe. But let's go to him."

Then Thomas, who was called the Twin,Didymus">[fn] said to his fellow disciples, "Let's go, too, so that we may die with him!"

So the Jews said, "See how much he loved him!"

So they removed the stone. Then Jesus looked upward and said, "Father, I thank you for hearing me.

I know that you always hear me, but I have said this for the sake of the crowd standing here, so that they may believe that you sent me."John 12:30;">[xr]

So the high priests and the Pharisees assembled the CouncilSanhedrin">[fn] and said, "What are we going to do? This man is performing many signs.Psalm 2:2; Matthew 26:3; Mark 14:1; Luke 22:2; John 12:19; Acts 4:16;">[xr]

So from that day on they resolved to put him to death.

Now the high priests and the Pharisees had given orders that whoever knew where he was should tell them so that they could arrest him.
