So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam the third day, as the king bade, saying, Come to me again the third day.

So the king didn't listen to the people; for it was a thing brought about of Yahweh, that he might establish his word, which Yahweh spoke by Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

And when all Israel saw that the king didn't listen to them, the people answered the king, saying, What portion do we have in David? neither do we have inheritance in the son of Jesse: to your tents, O Israel: now see to your own house, David. So Israel departed to their tents.

So Israel rebelled against the house of David to this day.

Thus says Yahweh, You shall not go up, nor fight against your brothers the sons of Israel: return every man to his house; for this thing is of me. So they listened to the word of Yahweh, and returned and went their way, according to the word of Yahweh.

And Jeroboam appointed a feast in the eighth month, on the fifteenth day of the month, like the feast that is in Judah, and he went up to the altar; so he did in Beth-el, sacrificing to the calves that he had made: and he placed in Beth-el the priests of the high places that he had made.

And it came to pass, when the king heard the saying of the man of God, which he cried against the altar in Beth-el, that Jeroboam put forth his hand from the altar, saying, Lay hold on him. And his hand, which he put forth against him, dried up, so that he could not draw it back again to him.

for so was it charged me by the word of Yahweh, saying, You shall eat no bread, nor drink water, neither return by the way that you came.

So he went another way, and didn't return by the way that he came to Beth-el.

And he said to his sons, Saddle me the donkey. So they saddled him the donkey; and he rode thereon.

So he went back with him, and ate bread in his house, and drank water.

And Jeroboam's wife did so, and arose, and went to Shiloh, and came to the house of Ahijah. Now Ahijah could not see; for his eyes were set by reason of his age.

And it was so, when Ahijah heard the sound of her feet, as she came in at the door, that he said, Come in, you wife of Jeroboam; why feign you yourself to be another? for I am sent to you with heavy tidings.

And it was so, that, as often as the king went into the house of Yahweh, the guard bore them, and brought them back into the guard-chamber.

But the people that followed Omri prevailed against the people that followed Tibni the son of Ginath: so Tibni died, and Omri reigned.

So Omri slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria; and Ahab his son reigned in his stead.

So he went and did according to the word of Yahweh; for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before the Jordan.

So he arose and went to Zarephath; and when he came to the gate of the city, look, a widow was there gathering sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray you, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.

And it came to pass after these things, that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick; and his sickness was so intense, that there was no breath left in him.

for it was so, when Jezebel cut off the prophets of Yahweh, that Obadiah took a hundred prophets, and hid them by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water.)
